Water supply has been a big problem for decades in Merille, a small town on the way to Marsabit. The problem was not only continuity of access to water, but local water sources are also salty. The NGO Church World Service drilled a borehole at the local school. Children and families now have access to two types water via prepaid water ATMs: purified water for drinking (at a higher price) and non-purified water for washing and cleaning (lower in price).
